RADIO + DJ

DJ, Radio Host, and Promotion Specialist uplifting local artists with a global vision.

I think music can and should be a community effort. Whether I’m consulting with a new band or playing them on the radio, my work is centered on building relationships between artists, local businesses, and neighbors.

Those relationships start with finding a fierce advocate for your work. That’s where I can help. If you’re a venue looking for some new sounds or an artist navigating promotion options, I’d love to meet you.

DJing can and should be for everyone.

Every DJ has their own take on this, but for me it's just a matter of picking songs that sound great next to each other. It’s like a “runner’s high,” where the rhythm lies in the atmosphere and all I have to do is feel out the sequence. It’s about contributing to an experience and figuring it out as it’s happening.

DJing is a way for me to share my favorite music with friends and strangers. My favorite gigs are in neighborhood bars where I'm collaborating with the bartender, or in concert venues where I'm playing in between sets.

I prefer being a part of the furniture, quietly creating a vibe.

My style is mostly post-punk, new wave, indie pop, and soul.

RADIO PROMOTION

Radio promotion is the secret engine that drives your favorite stations and the music industry. It directly targets hundreds of programmers, DJs, and music directors that influence local communities in touring markets. It’s people, not algorithms, and those people tend to be fun to talk to.

My path to radio promotion started with a coffee shop and a college radio show.

During my first week on campus at Muhlenberg College, I encountered a student barista at the coffee shop playing an obscure artist that I loved. Too shy to chat, I opted for the then-version of sliding into the DMs – sent a MySpace message – and she suggested I apply to be a DJ at our school radio station, WMUH.

Before I knew it, I was producing a live radio show and filling in shifts for both students and community members as often as I could. I couldn’t stay away.

After years of hosting new music shows, I worked my way up the WMUH executive board and became its Music Director, where I encountered radio promoters for the first time.

Since that fateful day at the coffee shop, I’ve been devouring new music and sharing it with everyone around me.

In 2011, I started working as a full-time promoter and project manager for independent non-commercial radio campaigns in the U.S. Eventually I became the Director of Radio Promotion at a British record company, where I oversaw all radio marketing across every format in North America.

After many years working with a roster of artists primarily based in Europe, I began longing for more hyper-local work. I put my radio promotion career on hold to dive back into community-focused endeavors, which is what I’ve really always been about. I began hosting on-air at WFUV in 2019 and started my own show at Newtown in 2020, all while starting my farm and gardening business.

I’m looking to offer radio promotion consulting services to serve record labels, production companies, and PR reps. If this sounds like something you’d like to discuss, reach out.
